Best clutch for the 3VZE
My centerforce dual friction is wasted after 30,000 miles.
Jeez, this engine repair is really getting expensive. Looks like $350 is the best I can find.
Is there anything better (and hopefully less expensive) on the market today?

I'm running the LUK pro gold from dial-a-clutch.com it has a very strong pressure plate (cause's a stiff pedal) and was priced pretty well. going on 35k miles with no apreciable wear

im on my 3rd... the one that came in it when i bought the truck... replaced that one after i couldnt acclerate up entrance ramps to the interstate....
second one got replaced a bit early when i did the engine swap when it puked its second HG with a centerforce.
Im not teribly impressed with the centerforce and can easly bog it down and make it slip. (what does dumping the clutch and barking the tires sound like anyway?)

It'll bark the tires, but won't do it twice in a row.
Seems to me like the CF Dual just didn't have the head dissapation they claimed.
Looking hard at the Marlin ceramic right now, want to ask some questions and they don't answer the phone. email I guess.
Nice that marlin includes a throwout and pilot w/ the deal.

my original clutch had 189 thousand on it when I replaced it. Wouldn't grab hard enough to spin the tires but it never really sliped. Same thing for my new OEM style clutch. I would like to have something that grabed a little harder

Bets clutch i had was i hayes super truck or somethign liek that it says they are rated fro snowplows and heavy towing and its is amazing i have had it for 20,000 with nbo problem and the pedal is way smoother than stock with abotu the same presure. If i am right i think it was a little under 200 bucks from summit racing. As for oem i boguht on after a rebuild and after 1000 miles the disc actually came apart in there and i had to replace the whole thing.

I just ordered a heavy-duty OEM clutch kit for my 5-speed swap from Marlin Crawler. I have heard great things about them. They also have a pucked ceramic clutch for a bit more cash. They're both below $350. Mine was about $200 and I believe that the ceramic was about $250 but can't remember.

For what it's worth, I just ordered the Marlin Crawler MC-11009 Clutch.
Initially I was going with the ceramic version, but after speaking with Marlin on the subject they say it's extremly grabby, more on-off than anything else and won't slip. They reccomond their standard Heavy Duty kit for a street/offroad truck. The ceramic for racing.
It comes with the 1200lb pressure plate, heavier ones are not available for the 3VZE. For reference stock is 900lbs.
Nice thing is that this is $150 LESS expensive than replacing my Centerforce AND comes with pilot & throwout bearings (another $60 of stuff.)
I'll come back in a while and update this with initial impressions (once I get the motor running again) and later a long term.

Ooo let me know how it works out. My centerforce has been slipping lately, and I think it's bout time to replace. Have a stage 2 currently, and was thinking about their stage 3, but heck, if that heavy duty marlin crawler works great, I just might order me one!

and they even throw in an alignment tool.
I cut the flywheel w/ a .026" step as instructed and assembly went easily, no surprises.
First time I used it I thought it was broken, the pedle feels is very light. But it works great. Smooth as silk, locks it up where you want it to, doesn't seem to fade (though I've yet to hammer it hard) and the trans hasn't shifted so well in a decade.
I did speak to them about the Ceramic version and was told that I wouldn't like it. Very sudden grab and not good for the street.
They were right about one thing, I do like what I got.
Overall I'd give the Marlin Clutch Kit a thumbs up, $200 well spent.

Yea I have the same clutch and am also very happy. I could spin the old clutch on a small obstacle no problem, now with this one I'm in love. FWIW it looks like trailgear sells the same clutch for a little less $.
