just took my 4runner into the shop today to get my tranny checked out. they said that it's about 2500 to rebuild it and 1700 for a used one. so figured somewhere in that ballpark i would think.

definitely didn't read that all the way through... i'd just check out a junk yard. prob be pretty cheap if you pull it off a junker. any 4runners in the neighborhood could also be a suitable candidate if your shaddy...

Are you referring to the crossmember? You'll pay a lot for a brand new one. You ought to check out a junkyard first. Sometimes you can find really nice parts there...practically new. But, if you're area is like mine where there are few to zero salvaged Toyotas available, consider having one made. It wouldn't be terribly complicated and might run you cheaper considering shipping for a used or new one online. Forget the dealership.

Probably looking at $100 or more new from the dealer. Did it break on one side or both? I got one that broke on one side. Might want to check your engine mounts too.
