auto throttle/kickdown cable too short?!
i've been poking around with this for about an hour trying to adjust the kickdown cable running from the tranny to the throttle valve (89 4runner 22r-e). it seems to be too short (or incorrect cable) so the cable is stopping the valve at about 2/3rd throttle. the adjustment procedure [in the haynes] doesn't have much in it, except that the bead on the wire needs to be exposed from the boot about 1mm. unfortunately it's stopped over 1cm before the end of the boot. anyone had trouble with this? i'm trying not to put much money into this since it'll probably be swapped to a 5spd soon.. but until then i'd like to get it working properly. please advise
