anybody with the FSM?? help

i cant get the FSM to open on my comp so i need some help... i need to know how to test the fuel sender on an 86 22R, im going to go n pull it know to see what condition its in, but the gauge doesent work in the cab at all so i suspect something els,

I use foxit reader to look through it. Go download that, install it then open the fsm with that, mine goes to a firefox page then i can click on the electrical or mechanical, another page opens then i click on what i want to view and it opens in foxit.

ahhhhh sweet deal, i gots the firefox thanks, and i got it out, and the little cover off and it looks fine, not like some of the other pics ive seen of others...

If the wire winding on the resistor isn't broken, then the next most likely reason for a sender to show an open circuit when you test across the connector terminals is some corrosion at the spring. This spring is what connects the wire to the moving wiper.



Should be about 110 ohms across the resistor. The FSM isn't much help. It'll just tell you to buy a new one if there's a problem.

well i finnaly got one off of a search in a pdf form, it has all the right testings and procedures to go through to make sure it works right down to how to test the warning light, but alas i dont have an ohm meter but all the tests that i could do with a test light make me believe the instrament cluster is to blame, oh wells, i need an sr5 cluster anyway... we'll see what i come up with
