Any guides to removing the pistons?
So heres a bit of background:
about 1 month ago, my head gasket blew on my 3.0 1993 4runner. So I made the mistake to go ahead and replace it. I did not know that my rings (probably from what I'm guessing) were bad at the time so I did not ask the mechanic to swap those for me too. The reason why I think my piston rings are bad is simply because when my mechanic did the head gasket he replaced the gaskets from the head to the top so there's no oil leaking but for some reason I am still loosing oil. I pretty much have to refill the oil at about 3000km because it gets too low. Weird thing is that I get no blue smoke nor white but I have very low power when going uphill and I also get very poor fuel economy (about 19L/100km so every 310-320km I have to fill up 60L gas tank) I was getting the same results before the head gasket blew before. So I'm looking if there's any way to remove the pistons to replace the rings without having to remove everything from top to pistons perhaps its possible to remove the oil pan and work from there. I have very low knowledge mechanically so bare with me as I'm only 19 years old. Any guides would be helpful. thanks for your time and help.

you would still have to pull the motor to take the oil pan off. you would be able to take the pistons out, but putting them back in would be a different story. the easiest and correct way would be to tear it down from the top and re build the top end.
is it burning the oil?
is it burning the oil?

Yeah so I guess I'm just going to sell it as is for 3000 - should be good enough imo. As for the burning oil... I have no idea I have no blue smoke so no way of knowing

oil just doesn't dissapear it's either leaking (either externally and visable, or internally and mixing with coolant maybe), or it's burning
how do your plugs look? post pics if you can
did the mechanic that did the HG job mention anything about the visual condition the cylinders and pistons were in?
