Alt Upgrade - GM? MR2? Aftermarket?

After installing my stereo, winch, driving lights and inverter, I figure I should be nice to my battery and get a bigger alt. Doing some searches I've found some people run the MR2 100amp alt, some are running a 150amp GM alt and some have forked over the big bucks for a aftermarket alt. The aftermarket is out of the question for me, but I'm wondering if I should go GM or MR2?

I got mine rebuilt to a 130 amp w/72 amps at idle. Here's the company info:

Boyle Future Technology

Auburn, CA 95602
Phone: 530-888-6290

total cost including two way shipping was $185.00.

MEAN GREEN!!!!!!

really expensive, but it'll be the last alternator you ever have to buy. I want to get one hopefully end of summer, but we'll see on some other stuff.

Do some phoning around your area though, I know there are a few places in Calgary that will rewind an alternator to 150Amps for a lot less than a new high output

i had mine done last year at a local shop, brought it up to 160 amps and put a new diode in the original stock alt. i gave them an old core so i didnt loose the stock alt and have a back up incase the h/o ever goes out.

all said and done, taxes in for a little over 200$ cdn.

I had a local shop rebuild mine and install a smaller pulley, 100amps total, 100 amps at 1500rpm .. works great above 600rpm, below that it cuts out... oh well, idle is 750
