I have a modded intake system...I have the tube thing that goes from the airbox to the inner fender removed, and a k&n drop-in fliter (yea yea it was $10 and filters great)
I also have the Toyboxfab intake tube. now, this tube is not made directly for our 4runners but it WILL fit after a mod. I got mine to fit in after some trimming of vaccum lines and some pushing and shoving. It will be in contact with your brake booster.
I am going to heat mine and push it in a little bit with a ball peen hammer so it doesnt touch anymore. and than repaint it.
Ill include a video and a few pics for ya (sorry my engine bays dirty, the dirt is probably 18 years old..its gonna take somework haha)
As far as the video goes..click here I also have a custom exhaust, so yours wont sound like that, but im sure you can pickout the intake sound from the exhaust.
this is the problem you'll run into
So as far as performance goes..between my intake and exhaust i have experienced noticable power gains. My fuel ecomony has gone up. I can now be in 3rd gear going up some hills where i used to need second. It pulls alot harder all through the RPM range.

I removed the tube from behind my light to the air box, the elbow was small & restrictive. I also drilled another hole on the side of the box closer to the engine. Performance increase in the 3K RPM range. havent seen any MPG difference in gas except more my lead foot.

hey i'v been looking at the pics you guys put up and i was wondering what you guys did with the "second" intake tube coming from the bottom of the air box. i also wanted to mod my air intake but not sure what to do with all the vaccum lines. if anyone can shed some light on this i would appreciate it. Thanks

well it works, yesterday was the 1st day and i took it in the mud, it needs some changes, but i will be makeing an air box to go around it. i will post my build up later. the power gain is awsome, the response it about the same but the power i've gained is unreal. it costs a total of 40 bucks
