AC compressor not on at idle?
If I blip the throttle by hand or just raise the RPM slightly, it will come on every time.
Makes city driving very unpleasant.
Help please!

Got it. A quick turn of the AC Amplifier behind the glovebox and it's all happy now.
More details from this thread. Hat tip to 4Crawler (again!).
Here's what I did
1. Pull the glovebox down & locate the amplifier knob. It'll probably be hidden by a bunch of wires. It's the silver (aluminum) knob in this picture:
2. start the truck & flip the AC on. Mine's an automatic, so I also put it in Drive.
3. slowly turn the AC Amplifier knob clockwise until the AC compressor engages
4. adjust the "idle up" valve until your RPMs are within spec (some go to 800, some to 1100, YMMV).
(Note, the vacuum routing in this shot apparently bypasses the VSV on the power steering pump)
5. Turn the truck off, start it, blip the throttle a few times - make sure it keeps coming on.
6. Enjoy fresh, cool air while sitting at red lights!!

Now I finally know how to fix the two problems I've been having: the A/C switching off at idle and the A/C cycle causing my highway cruise speed to fluctuate.
