93 'Yota truck fuel delivery system question

I have a 93 4wd truck that now has a 350 Shivalay in it. I got it this way in exchange for paint work on another truck. My question is, how do I determine if it was injected originally? Would it have had an in tank pump if it were carbureted? Is there any info to be determined from the VIN? It currently has an aftermarket add on fuel pump mounted on the frame rail.

Thanks, Chip.

if its a 1993, the truck was EFI. Toyota discontinued the carb'd motor (22R) in 1991. Even then, the only truck that it was available in was a 4 cylinder 5 speed 2wd truck. All 4wd's, 4Runner's, and V6 trucks were EFI, and almost all 2wd trucks were too. (that is, 3rd gen trucks and 2nd gen 4Runners, 1989-1995, 1990-1995, respectively). The V6 (3VZE) was only available with EFI. It was introduced in 1987/1988.

Hope this helps, and welcome aboard!

Thanks a bunch. Looks like I'll be pulling the tank and trying to find an intank low pressure pump or maybe just installing a stock SBC fuel pump on the engine after removing the intank hi pressure pump.

Oh yeah, there is no smiley to say thank you.
