93 4. Runner transmission problem

Hi guys so I'm new here. I have a question regarding my 93 runner. So the other day I get in it and put it in drive and it will not go anywhere. I started trying to figure out what was going on so I put it in 4hi and it still did not move. But when I put it in 4lo it will go anywhere you want it to go with absolutely no slipping. I can climb hills and climb on top of big rocks with absolutely no problem. Does anyone have a clue as to what could be causing this. I changed the fluid and added Lucas transmission additive which did not help a bit. Thanks in advance guys.

This probably isn't much help, but what I would try at this point is isolate the problem, or try to. If it only goes in 4L (with any gear? Is it auto?) I might try pulling off the back drive shaft and see if infact it's the front doing the work. Maybe try looking at a FSM (they've got links to them on this forum) and seeing if I could see a common possible point of failure.

There's some smart folks here, but it might take a while for anyone to see your post. I've sub'ed to a few threads, and got off work this week, and no posts. Sad movie.

Yes it is an automatic. I just feel like of it was the tranny slipping it would slip no matter what. Especially when putting it under a load like climbing on a rock. I have also looked at the FSM and could find anything that relates to my particular situation which is why I made this post. What ever is going on it has gradually gotten worse . It started out only not wanting to go on cold mornings last winter. Once it warmed up it would go fine in any range. But I have cha he's fluid and filter and added lucas tranny additive. Do yall ha e anymore suggestions?
