91 4runner starving for air!
hey everyone. ive got a 91 4runner which i drove to Delaware a couple months back when it overheated. ridiculous knocking and wouldn't get 2 miles without overheating again. so i changed the engine with another 22re which i got for cheap! it ran very strong until i passed a guy in an eclipse going 40 in a 55 when i was late coming home from work. when i got it home it would idle at wherever it wanted to. anything between 1-3 grand and it is running crazy rich. it b lows black smoke out the exhaust just by reving it up. it keeps fowling plugs and is just not getting enough air or something. im getting less than 10 miles to the gallon in a 4 banger. definately not a good sign. i dont know what to do. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

TPS in on the throttle body which is bolted to the intake. Should be visible from the top. Sorta hard to get to, has two philip screws holding it in. black in color, 4-5 wires going to it.
I would figure out how to test it first before spending the $150 or so they want for a new one.
Do yourself a HUGE favor and get the FSM for your truck. It will pay for itself in about 10 seconds.

I would lean towards to airflow meter before the tps. make sure the door inside the AFM isn't stuck. Also..check your ground wire thats bolted to the intake...could be loose
