I put manual locking front hubs on my rig and left the ADD system intact. This way I don't have to worry about defeating the ADD system. Why create work when you don't have to and what do you "really" gain by defeating it? If I leave the hubs locked it works just as before which is handy for winter driving so I don't have to haul my arse out in the snow to engage the hubs to get into 4WD all the time. Let's face it, Shifting on the fly is kinda nice.
I can also leave the hubs in free wheel mode when cruising in 2wd to keep the front axle shafts from turning which helps with MPG and prolongs CV boot/joint life.
It's all about options...
In this case I suspect the OP installed manual hubs in an attempt to fix his 4WD problem
In this case the OP could go either way with defeating the ADD on his rig as his ADD system already isn't working but it would probably be just a simple fix to get it working again...
