Being an 88 I assume your talking about a 22RE, so no TRD did not.

They do however make one for the 2RZ (2.4) and 3RZ (2.7)

LCE makes superchargers for 22R/ 22RE's

The power would be noticable, but not huge. I'd say maybe a 20-30% power gain. I want to get the supercharger really really badly, but alas funds are not allowing it.

The main problem is the 22re ecu cannot compensate for more than a few pounds of boost. The air-flow meter can measure enough air for about 7 psi boost (afaik, the afm in the 22re and 22rte are the same, and contrary to popular belief is not as restricive as many would lead you to believe) but the ECU in the 22re is not programmed to compensate for 'boost' and the adjustments to ignition timing boost would require. If you have the knock sensor, that will help a bit, but relying on it for protection is not the best solution to the problem.

If you are going to boost it, you would need to use a piggyback computer. I would go with the megasquirt.
