Sorry to not respond for so long. I did get a chance to pull off the cat the other day and it seemed to be pretty intact. I put it back on without hooking up my muffler pipe and turned the car on and it seemed to be blowing out just as strong as when the cat was off. so im guessing its not the cat.

Recently, when my dad and i went to change plugs, we realized that the #4 cylinder was stripped where the plug goes in. Im thinking that the plug was never far down enough into the head so it was missing every other crank or so. Im banking on that being the issue. I just got a big deal on a new rebuilt head cylinder so that will be going in next week hopefully. I'll update once it goes on.

I'm also hoping to be able to change the fuel pump out too, got an extra one of those too. I am very grateful for all of you guys and your input, thanks SO much!

The engine light is also a function of the second O2 sensor, since it is after the cat, and if you're pumping out too little O2 through the cat (meaning too much emissions meaning the cat is clogged).

As for the cooling system, get some radiator flush. Check your fan clutch too.
i dont think the 1st gen 4runners have two O2 sensors but i could be wrong. i definately only have the one off of my manifold. I figured out the cooling system: turned out to be a bubble, we drained the whole system and redid the antifreeze. Thanks!

Certain CA model 1st Gen runners DO indeed have 2 02 sensors... but only 88.5+, from what I remember. The dealership would tell ya quick. I found this out when I put in an 89 4Runner ECU to test, that the guy SWORE was from an 87.... and it immediately threw a Knock and 02 Code..... come to find out, later, it was the 'no signal from 2nd 02' code it was throwing.

EASY PEAZY, lemon squeezy...............most likely, hehe......

CALL ANY dealer, ... ask them to search your vin, and ANY experienced Toyota Technician Bay's Office Staff should be able to tell you what month, where it was made, etc. I know that MUCH of the info, including trans, etc.(I think) is in the VIN#....... But why not just let them do all the work, right? lol. You can have issues with that..... as my truck is NOT salvage, ...yet it cannot be found on their computers...... I have the ORIGINAL pink, from 1st owner.... But go figure, it's one of those YET ANOTHER freak things I've ran into! hahaha.
