4.70:1 Gearing in V6 & Auto

Alright guys had a buddy install a trail gear 4.70 in his 91 4cyl and now i wanna do the same! Those gears made a WORLD of difference! ok so ive done some research and cant seem to find anyone who just makes these gears for a simple swap, is that true? it looks like marlin sells a adapter to install a 4cyl box, and trail gear seems to be the same can anyone enlighten me on this? anyone running dual boxes? is that like stupid slow i dont plan on crawling the side a house so maybe not needed

thanks

It is not a simple swap.

The auto has an integrated transfer case that does not make bolting on a 4 cylinder T-case an easy task. Inchworm makes the "preferred" adapter, from what I have seen, to do this. I have seen guys run dual boxes with the adapter, but the trans assembly gets really long, way longer than a manual trans with dual boxes and requires some cross member mods to fit it in. Below is a recent thread from a guy who put a single 4.7 box behind his turbo 4 cylinder auto, he has pics of the adapter swap and all that is involved, along with is driving impressions of the single case with 4.7 gears:
