3vz alternator and battery issue 94 pickup 4x4

I have a 94 Pickup 4x4 with 3vz. It sat for a bit and the battery was dead. Charged it up and the truck fired right up. The problem is that while its running, the alternator and battery get very hot. I had the alternator and battery both tested, both good. I checked draw with the key on and I am reading 3.8 amps. When I disconnect the alternator, I get down to 1 amp. If i pull the AM1 and AM2 fuses under the hood, it drops to 20 mili amps. What in the world i happening? The AM2 is EFI and Ignition, the AM1 is Starting system, turn, guages, cig, engine, wiper, radio, ECU-IG. No other fuse pulled causes an amp drop of more than 10 mili amps. I have a new alternator on the way, the battery is a fairly new red top, and I guess I will be looking for replacement fuses. Just wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge with this problem. Thanks!

Did you load test the battery or just voltage test it? It sounds like your alternator is trying to charge a battery that doesn’t want to be charged.

Took it down to the local AutoZone and had them check it. Said its good but needs a charge. Same place tested the altrernator, 3 times, and said it was good too. Maybe the voltage regulator in the alternator?
