34x9.50 narrow ss's little updater...
hey guys! thought id post up a couple pics now that i finally found a set of narrow ss's!
bought brand new two years ago, mounted on old 6lug rims, bolted onto an ifs truck with cut fenders.. tow bar'ed out to local trails twice with hardly any air in the fronts. walked alot of the bad holes, cupped the fronts like a mother... other two are perfect. then the truck was put on jackstands for a sas, that has since been postponed for a while to say the least...
some of you might remember back when i bought my 4in procomp and the guy offered me an old 3.5in ranch kit and a "v6 8in rear with 5.29's" for 150? well anyways i hopped on that deal too. but never pulled the chunk out in front of him...
well since feb of last year that axle had been sitting in my back yard.
so i offered the rearend and 350 cash for the 34's. which i thought was a good deal. we went ahead and did the deal. couple days later i got a call and sure enough the axle was trashed. all 5 bearings trashed, they were 5.29's, but both gears had chuncks missing out of them and the flange splines on the pinion were gone. oh, and on top of that it was a 4cyl rearend... i had never even thought to check that out.... so now i have to throw in an extra 150. its not a good deal anymore, but not a completely bad one either.
im having some bushings made for the 3.5in rancho kit as we speak, so that should be going in this week or the next. no more sitting with an ugly rake.
all i did was fix the bead leaks from them taking it mudding with no air pressure. balanced them out (or close to it...) and threw them on for a week or two, just to even them out. i drove around for a day with a polaris 500 in the bed and that seemed to work nicely.. probably pull them off sunday or so and save all that tread for the trails!

since they are so narrow their supposed to be on 15x7's but the man before me wanted them on 15x8's so he mounted them with the old ratchet strap, either, and match mehod! they do however look way better on the 15x8's.
back at the barn where it all started..
they dont HUM or WHINE at all, but they do SING pretty good at 65ish!!
take it easy guys!

I ran them with no lift on my 4Runner.
x2 for not mounting them on an 8" rim - I had all kinds of rim damage resulting in bead leaks
... and if you think they "sing", you must be deaf!

If you play in a lot of mud you'll like those tires. I have a set of TSLs that same size. I have mine mounted on 15x7 aluminum wheels. They are very light. Wheel speed is not a problem with those light tires and wheels. They're really good if the mud has a bottom to it. If the mud is thick and bottomless, wider tires do better. I use my 34x9.50s in mud bogs, but I use my 12.50s on 10 inch wheels around where I live because the mud around here has no bottom to it.
