2nd Gen Two Door 4Runner Round Up
Well...I was looking for something non related to this thread but found a really old one (2003!) with this title and got to thinking that since Im selling one of my 2 doors and have only seen one other one on the road my whole life Id try to get a new 2 dor showcase going. So come all all you 2 door people...lets see em!
Ill start off with my 2...gold one has a ton of mods and the red one is only a bj spacer and coils for now.

Lots of places have told the story, but its pretty simple so Ill run it down quickly. The 2 doors were sold only for one year (1990) because at the time Chevy and Ford had 2 door trucks of their own so the government placed a high import tariff on the Toyota and so made it way too expensive to sell at a profit. Thus Toyota dropped that model and started selling only the 4 door.
Dont know how many were sold but Ive only ever seen one other one on the road, so definitively a lot less than 4 doors.
Hey wabfab...the 3.4 is next on my agenda, starting to have a 3.0 V5. How much are you guys charging for a complete conversion with A/c etc etc? My truck is an auto but Id like to go to a 5 speed with the swap.

Here's mine a '90 v6 5sp w/ a trailmaster lift.
Currently doing an interior rebuild since the sunroof was busted when I got it and it looked like he had the windows open 24/7 with all the dust accumulated on the interior I decided to clean it up since I had it all torn apart. So far the sunroof has been replaced and while I had it out I decided to lay down some dynamat to quiet it down some. I'll probably post this up in a build section soon for as much as I have it torn apart.

There are a few running around in Canada it seems..
This one is 5/89, so one of the earlier ones, I guess.
Getting a well deserved engine rebuild at the moment!
Stock suspension, but with custom bumpers and no runningboards.

this is interesting...
the Toyota USA-market sales brochures pictured at toyotareference.com indicate that the 2 door was available only as an SR-5 V6 4x4 in '90 and '91 only.
no mention of 2 door models in the '92 brochure. i wonder what the story is behind yours. does your emissions sticker indicate what country your truck was made for? you may have some really rare item there!
