22ret, sounds like coolant is bubbling after shut off

Just popped the hood after getting the truck up to temp and I could hear the coolant still moving around in the hoses and such after it was cut off. Just wandering if this is normal, never noticed it in any of my land cruisers before the 22re is still very new to me. Truck hasn't ran hot since I have owned it.

My non-T 22RE made those noises for a few years after I got it at 142K miles. Then after a radiator/coolant/Tstat changeout it never came back. Didn't seem to do any harm while it was making the gurgling and bubbling sounds.

it will happen in most vehicles. As the coolant temp changes it cycles around the engine. Just like what a block heater does.

On a slightly related subject, do you let your engine idle for a few minutes before shutting it off? That turbo probally spins at 10 000 rpm while idling. cruising down the street at 40 000rpm, heavy boost, 100 000 rpm. You need to let the bearings cool off and be well oiled or you'll cook them. I let my truck idle untill the exhaust gas temps hit below 800f, if I've just come off the highway that takes about 5 minutes since my highways egt is 1350f.

Thanks for the replies, glad the noises are normal. I do let it idle for just a bit, after reading your post I have realized that I MIT need to let it idle a little longer than I have been.

Chances are you'll be fine but it seems so easy to do for an easy piece of mind. I know people who shut their turbo'd trucks right after parking, have been doing it for years, and don't have problems.
