22RE Dies when splashed by puddles
Hey guys, I have a 93 pickup with a 22RE. I take it offroad a lot, which has been revealing a problem that is rather embarrassing and annoying when I'm holding up guys on the trail.
If I enter a puddle nice and slow, there's no issue. If I drive through at a normal speed and thewater is deep enough to make a good splash, I'll make it out the other side okay, but suddenly the acceleration dies, the engine shudders and inevitably dies. Feathering the gas pedal only kills it faster.
I wait about 5 minutes and it cranks right up again and I'm good to go....aside from ribbing from guys who had to wait on me.
I've been trying to figure out what it could be. Ignition coil or distributor cap maybe?
