1990 Skidplate

Hey guys,
I came across a factory skid plate for my 1990 yota the other day. The guy said it came off a 1993 but should fit. I have it bolted up front but it appears as if my truck doesn't have bolt holes in the cross member where the skidplate shows the bolt holes to be at... Is it possible mine didn't have a skidplate and was not drilled for it in the front cross member area?... I tightened the front bolts up and the plate is tight against everything so I was wondering is maybe they just had some type of rubber washer that stuck between the front cross member and the plate. Has anybody ran across this before?

Should be 4 bolts, and as far as I know, every 4x4 came with the front skid plate.
Pics?

Here are a few pics, heck I might not even have it in the right spot but everything seems to go together other than the bolt holes on the rear.

Did you look for bolt holes on the lower cross member before you put it on? I always put the bottom two in first since they are slightly slotted. Maybe the lower ones are plugged with dirt so you can't see them? It wouldn't be that difficult to tap hole in the x-member if there aren't preexisting ones but I would think the holes would be present even if the vehicle didn't come with a skid from the factory.

Red face

I would bet the bolts broke off and are filled with mud.

Just know that is in no way to be considered a Skid Plate .

I really think the main purpose of it is to keep tools that I drop from falling to the ground.

I am not sure if any of mine still have those things on a few in the scrap pile though..

You guys were right, they were filled with mud/dirt. I scratched right over them with a screwdriver and couldn't tell they were there until I started really digging into them. Its been one of those days I tell ya....

You got me excited at least. My truck is lacking the skid plate and I just saw that a fellow has one on craigslist for $25. Its an hour and a half drive away, so I'll pass on that one, but at least they are out there!

Part of why I bought this one was because I have not seen very many of them and when I jumped on Ebay the cheapest one was $150. I bought the skidplate and a working but rusty tailgate for $30.. I needed the guts out of the tailgate anyways. Good luck!
