wiring harness compatability / identifying

I have an 85 runner with the 22re that I have had ongoing electrical / check engine light issues with. I know the engine is not the original, I believe it's out of an 87. that being said I'm also unsure of what wiring harness / harnesses may have been swapped. I know that my ECU is for an 88 according to the numbers on it. can anyone tell me how to identify what harness I have or what the differences may be or if it really even matters?? I know the engine harnesses change because of the injector plugs is there any other reasons? I have searched but have not been able to find any answers.... any help is appreciated

Here is the part number for my 86. I am sure an 86 would work for you. The part number is located behind and up above the speedometer assembly. I am not sure if you could see it with the speedo assembly out.

85-86 have the diagnostic port on the drivers fender and others are on the passneger and a little different style.

The 88 is a one only year of injector and I cant tell if and how ECU match up to the harness/injector. My last post on my 86 build I have a link to the differnces in injectors. They have different resistance readings. From what I understand, if you put the injector with the wrong resistance you will ruin your computer.

I might would suggest finding which injectors you got and get a computer and harness and swapping the whole thing out if it is in bad shape or cut up. It takes a little time, but it isnt as big of a job as you might think. Just dont take it out and put it in a few weeks later. You want to do it fairly fast so it is fresh on your mind and take pics of what you are unsure of for future refernce.

Link to part number..... I think this is the PN#82131-89830. The "8" isnt showing on the first part.

This truck is tore down. Windshield is out as the PO did a poor job of sealing up the glass when they replaced it. Wouldnt take much to pull the body and do a full frame off restore, but I want this truck running as quick as possible and is in great shape bodywise.
