Ok, so I'm new here, but I've been watching this site for a few months now, great site btw, and I can't find much on the 84 SR5 Xtra cab truck. Not just this site, but anywhere on the net. I can't find used ones or parts for them very easily.
I bought my 84 new, so yeah a one owner. It has 145,00 miles on it and I haven't done much to it, so it's pretty much stock except wheels and tires and a few small items. It's been parked for about 7 years now except for a few times loaning it out to friends for small stuff. It still runs great. I'm starting to think about cleaning and fixing it up a bit. I'm looking for some parts. Any recommendations on where I can find some original stuff? I am currently looking for a sunroof and some interior paneling. I am attempting to post a photo with this. Any thought on what kind of value this thing has? Cuz I am pondering whether to sell it but... I just don't know if I can part with it.

It's pretty.
Hold on to it because I'm sure there are very few of them that look that nice, have that low of miles and are only one owner. I don't know how much it is worth now, but it will be worth something one day.

Nice truck. That body style went until 1989 so there are plenty of parts still out there for you. Suspension and drivetrain changed in 1986.

Wow, supa clean truck! I wish my 84 looked that nice, but then I would probably wheel it a lot softer. As far as parts go, you should become very friendly with your local salvage yards, that's gonna be your best bet. But if it runs as good as it looks what's the problem? I'm sure once you browse this site, and other similar sites, long enough you will get the upgrade-itis and want to do things like a suspension lift, crossover steering (high steer), larger tires, gears, lockers, etc. These trucks are very popular, and there are a lot of after market companies to help make em more trail worthy.

What would you like to get out of your truck? Keep it stock and clean, transform it into a trail gobbling machine, or any thing in between? (wow, that came out a little gay)

Gary, I still don't understand the img to post the photo. All the gibberish at the end of my post has some img's in it. Can I get rid of the gibberish? and how can I get the full size photo to post?

Oldgold, I thought about keeping it stock and clean, but I am considering adding some crome bars, maybe a lift, but I don't think I want to take it to the trails anymore. Thanks for the links, I'll check them out.

Yoder, so do you think by adding some of the stuff I listed would devalue it? The more stock the better?

Aenema, I've been asked that several times over the years, is that winch hard to find? It's a Warn, I think 6000 lb.

If it were me with that jem I think I'd pretty much keep it the way it is. You can fit larger tires without lifting her. Or if you really want to lift it just keep it under 3".
As far as changing out the bumpers and brush guard I think there are some that would look real nice on her but I'd keep the original...DO NOT SELL!!! No need to, obviously she is paid for and insurance can't be much at all. Something like this is a very rare find and something to hang on to.

But this is just me and what the heck do I know...

Well it isnt hard to find, it just looks like it has been kept well under the cover and im in need of a winch for a reasonable price.

yea a lift will definately drop the value. its knda stupid actually bc u put more money in it and it just lowers the value. with the dodge i just bought it was worth 10,700 stock and 10k with a 2inch leveling kit and 35s. keep it like it is and buy u another yota to pitlfart around with. about the pics- on photobucket mouse over the pic, the copy the [IMG] code. strat a thread on here and paste the link

wow, that is a beautiful truck. It is hard to find a nice straight axle x-tra cab truck in such nice condition, especially with the SR5 package.

If you are needing some odds and ends when it comes to parts, check out Ebay. That's where I found a lot of small things for my truck. Also check around and see if there are some local junkyards who specialize in old Yota's for parts. And I don't think I'd lift that truck. It looks good where it sits stock.

There are parts available for 84-88 toyota trucks all over the place, I get alot of stuff from www.partstrain.com or www.autopartswarehouse.com and other places, like pic n pull, just look around and do some searching and you will find what your looking for.

you got the same problem I have, its so old they already left the salavge yard and went to the crusher. the oldest thing we have here would be 95

honestly, I don't think you can find one cheaper (correct me if I'm wrong). There's no telling how much one costs direct from Toyota. As far as I know, that listing has been there for a while. I scout around every once in a while and see if I can locate hard to find parts. There's a reserve on that glass, I don't think anyone will snatch it up just yet (unless someone really needs one).

I had that same winch on my first toyota, its ok no problem. I got an 8000 on the second toyota but just because it was a good deal

Theres TONS of info on our trucks around here. 84's are the same as 85's and a lot of the stuff is the same from 79 all the way up to 95
