Picked up some parts for the Pickup

took a good hour ride up to pennsylvania today, pickup up tons of parts for my 85 pickup, the "ugliest truck on yotatech".

i orignally rode up there to to grab a few parts, but ended up leaving with half the truck LOL

i gotta thank 77lubr, he threw in TONS of freebies and i got a great price on all the parts. if youre ever looking for parts and he gives you a yell, i highly recomend him. I know theyre not all that pretty but i know they will definatly clean up nicely.

hopefully i'll get them on the g.i. soon, freshen up the body alittle bit LOL.

haha, i get that alot

theres a tube hangin down and for a few weeks my truck was leaking coolant out of this tube onto my driveway, yard etc.

so simply, i wiretied a half gallon iced tea jug to the skidplate, and ran the tube into the mouth hole, and walla, no more coolant leak

ive thought about making it a crawler, but naa...

my plans for this truck are actually make it look the day it did when it rolled out of the dealer lot, and also re-use as many of the original parts as possible, and put it on 33's and go wheling on the weekends

its gonna be a neat combination LOL now, as for my 88....maybe i can turn THAT into a crawler

pics do not do justice LMAO this truck is trashed. the frame is literally crumbling on every square inch and im suprised it hasnt just collapsed yet. the trucks been in the shape of a "V" ever since i got it, and everyday i look at it, the center of the truck (where the bed and cab meet) droops down lower and lower.

and yeah, about the stack, i took it off in the winter because all the water froze up so it didnt really have a purpose anymore, it was just bumping into stuff and making a terrible ratlle noise, so i took it off lol. its still in the bed, all i have to do is hook it back up

really? well thats not good news. rot i wouldnt mind, but on this truck i just want nothing to do with it lol im pretty sick of it. i guess i wouldnt mind dents, its just i'd rather not have to do bodywork, and really, who wouldnt want bondo free fenders LOL

does anybody know if 2wd fenders are the same as 4x4 fenders? the junkyard i go to has an 87 2wd pickup with rot/dent free fenders i've been eyeing up for months now, but they just dont look the same. Maybe its just because im looking at them while theyre ON a 2wd truck?

They mount up the same, but they are not flared like the 4x4 fenders. if you don't mind hunting down a set of fender flares, or just running a skinny tire, then they can be used. They're better than nothing though.

I bought a passenger side one a while back, got it home, bolted it on. Then relized it wasn't right after looking at the front of the truck. Took it off and called a buddy to come get it. Came out even if i don't count gas money.

thats exactly what i thought, they dont have that extra bit of width. iif the fenders on my 88 werent rotton i'd put those on my 85, then the 2wd ones on my 88 sincei have to put flares on them anyway...

i guess for now i'll keep my eyes open, and then if worst comes to worst i'll get new ones (preferably oem, if i could find 'em)

the cheapest one i can find ( in about 3 minutes ) is this left one for 4x4. i didn't see a right one for a 4x4 that was under $100 shipped today, normally they are around $70 shipped

I don't care what they say gi, I love your truck. It's like a driving billboard, showing off how tough a Toyota is. A Chevy or Ford in that condition would have fallen apart and been in the junkyard long ago. I know you wanna reuse/restore most of the original pieces but if I were you I'd try finding a donor pickup for body parts. Good luck on the restore man, gonna be alot of work but it'll be worth it!
