Hi, new to these forums I've got a '94 22RE 4x4, in the works engine swap and flatbed to replace the rusty box.
Anyway, I bought what the owner claimed was an '83 Toy 2WD for the engine to replace the 22RE bad head gasket in my 94. When engine/trans came out the tranny has a 5-speed cast steel body, aluminum bellhousing so I'm led to believe the trans if not entire truck is an '84 or newer. I posted some parts up on CL to try and recoup the money I spent on the truck, had a guy call me and ask if the 2WD and 4WD transmissions in the 84-85 trucks is the same...as in, can you pull the tailcone off the 2WD trans and swap on a t-case adapter, or are they way different? I'd like to know if I can sell this tranny it'd recoup about half what I spent on the truck.
Thanks for the help I look forward to learning more about these trucks on this forum. Kris
