I forgot to mention, the gas tank... That bugs me more then the rear over hang does. I think it might be a little smaller now after dropping it on a very large rock I was crawling over. Going to fill it up in a little bit, we will see how much it takes

There was a thread on Pirate asking about making the electrical doors easier to disconnect. So I posted up these pictures of the plugs I ended up using. They are 8 pin power extensions from a PC store. The drivers side had one more wire, so I had to use one spade connection for it.

Didn't I tell you? its waiting for you at your local steel yard Some assembly is still required....

Went wheeling again this weekend, went up for a 1 day trip with a buddy. Got a few pictures of my truck, she really doesn't flex much with the current springs.

Quick little update, no pics to go with it though. I painted the front fenders to match the rear quarter panels, masking some of the rust up front. Then recently decided I am going to strip all the graphics off the truck, and redo them in black vinyl. So next summer I will be repainting the entire truck, top to bottom. So in the mean time I picked up some new front fenders and installed them the other day, they fit perfectly! I need to pull them back off and spray them gold to match the truck. Hopefully this weekend I will have the time to draw up the factory graphics, so I can cut some new ones soon.

I also ordered up some 1.5" wheel spacers from Ebay for $120 shipped. I'll be selling 2 of them once I get a IFS rear axle swapped in, but I needed more clearance for 35's which I will be ordering some time next month. I got the spacers last weekend, opened the box and found a huge All-Pro offroad sticker on top Turns out All-Pro drop ships them for the guy I bought them from on Ebay. Sure beats paying $70-80 a pair.

That's the next step with mine (IFS rear and either spacers up front or converting to IFS brakes/hub$$).
On the graphics, the guy I bought my truck back from mentioned that he made the graphics for his other truck. They are the 84-84 4runner stripes. I'll contact him and see if I can get the file from him. He's local to you, or at least he was in Minneapolis.

Finally fixed the oil leak this weekend. Pulled the oil pump and replaced the front seal and O-ring on Saturday. After driving it around a bit, I found it was still leaking from the relief valve area. I pulled the pump again this morning and found the top nut on the relief valve was loose. I put a light coat of sealant on both sides of the plastic washer and put it back together. No more oil leak!

It has leaked oil since I got the truck back in May. I was going to fix it a few months ago, but wussed out on using the starter bump trick to remove the crank pully bolt. Finally I stepped up and gave it a go, it went very smooth Now I just need to clean up the years of grim all over the underside of the 4runner. I am guessing it has leaked ever since it came to this state. The passenger side frame rail up front is rust free and smooth gloss black still.

Also picked up a IFS steering box and some lightly used 3inch All Pro front leaf springs on Saturday, starting to get parts lined up

Yeah, the anti rust agent all over the frank was a nice perk.... But pissing Moble 1 full synthetic out wasn't.... Last oil change I used Mobile clean 5000 since it was half the price. And now that the leak is fixed, I will be doing another oil change long before the 3000 mark so I can get some full synthetic in it before winter hits.

Been to lazy to do a screen capture of the relief valve. But if you look at the oil pump, its the large nut/bolt on the top of the pump. If your pump is leaking, I would recomend replacing the front seal with one from Toyota as it sits further into the pump. Get a new Oring to go behind the pump, and check the relief valve is tight. The entire job can be done in 2 hours if you take your time and keep double checking things on the computer.

Also finally ordered up my new tires today, I'll post up pictures once I get them installed

What size tire are you going with? I am going to get a set of spacers and then try out my 255/85/16's from my Taco on the 4runner and see how it runs/handles etc... It's hard to go down a size in tire, but its really only an inch total.

Got the tires installed today, love the new look. You can see I installed new front fenders and some wheel spacers as well.

Did you go with 1.5" spacers?

The new tires look great! I will be shopping for some new ones in the next year. Lots of decisions to make..and getting married is cutting into the fun fund.

Yup, 1.5" spacers all around for now. I do plan on swapping in a IFS rear axle some time soon.

I was torn between the new MTR and the KM2 tires. From all the reading I did, the MTR's sounded like the better tire off road, and quieter on road as well. The only concern I have is tread life with the MTR's. I know the old ones were only good for around 25-30k. But one review said he put 6k on the new tires and they were down 1/32" so far.

Yeah I was noticing that as well, still have the old fenders. Might cut those up first, see what i end up with. The weathers getting a little cold to paint the new certifit fenders. Might be best off putting the old ones back on for the winter and trim them a little.

This wasn't a problem until I put the 35's on

I finally installed a cross over kit over the weekend I picked up a lightly used trail gear setup, and I have had a IFS box waiting in the garage for awhile now. The hardest part was probably removing the steering shaft from the firewall. Had one of my friends help me, it took us about 12 hours and 6 beers each. I took my time mocking things up, and tripple checking everything along the way.

On the road it has already made a huge improvement. My stock steering system was getting very sloppy. It would randomly swerve left or right, wandered around the road quite a bit. Also last time I was out wheeling I bent the tie rod pretty good.

I will try to snap some pics of it installed, never got around to it this weekend

After I did crossover steering, I started rubbing up front more than I had in the past. The gearbox I put in is almost shot, so my steering is just as bad now as it was before crossover . Now I am going to have to buy another IFS Box, but thanks to cash for clunkers, there are a few around

My brake calipers decided to take a poop on me, so I am going to put the V6 IFS calipers on now too. Its a never ending process.

What was the name of the place that had the 3D8 paint for our trucks?

I ended up going to napa and having them mix up some paint for me, I haven't shot a drop of it yet though. I have that site book marked at home though, I will post it up tonight.

I was going to rebuild the IFS box before doing the crossover, but never got around to it. I might pick up another IFS box next year and rebuild it, just for peace of mind. At least replacing the IFS box is a pretty simple job

Looks good. I really like the copper color runner. I am debating turning my red 4 runner that color....
