idle questions!

Almost have my 85 sr5 pickup ready for the road but I have some questions about the idle. It idles at 1100 rpm and won't adjust any lower is that okay or too high? Also when I come to a stop the idles jumps between 500 and 1100 rpm but when I let off the brake pedal it goes back to normal. Any ideas? Thanks!

if you turn the throttle body idle screw down to the stops it still idles high? If so it is sucking air in, you should be able to kill the engine adjusting that screw all the way in.

You want to check the idle screw's o-ring. Mine was baked and the screw was turning waaaay too easily.
I also replaced the vacum lines attaching to the throttle body and sprayed TB cleaner into the vacum port opposite of the TB (I used the port for the Power Steering pressure valve)

All this seems to have calmed it down to ~950-1000 instead of the 1500-1800 it was idling at before.

Is the bolt that is on the Dash Pot too high? I have seen that before, not letting the throttle close all the way. It can get loose.

Dash pot is what keeps it from stalling when you let off the gas suddenly and slowly drops the rpms. Id look into getting one for your throttle body.
