Ok. I misread it.
Building them is so much more fun.

A good tcase is around $150. I've picked them up for $50 before that were good but that's a deal.

Looking forward to seeing a build thread of all the work you've done Nick.

Ha ha... I have photos of nearly everything I have done and quite a few. I lack a few on the install of your lift kit, but that is because we did the rear in a night the front springs the following week and we were rushed to get them installed, but I can get some after photos. Not a big deal. Everything has gone very smoothly so far. I think once I get this thing mobile and running well at higher speeds (driveshafts and duals done), I will get a build thread up. At that point, the constant work on it should slow down a bit.

Quick question that is slightly important. I'm looking at doing an engine swap in the next 2-3yrs on this thing, but am unsure what I want exactly. Since it won't really be towing stuff, I think an engine with roughly around 200 hp would suffice (5vzfe is a good candidate). I have actually looked at a lot of engines, but can't come up with something that I am dead set on. Are there any options for using this dual tcase with a swapped engine? Is it a bad idea with the added power (wouldn't completely abuse it)? Or should I put the mod on the side burner until the new engine to save the effort and $$ that would go into it? For some reason this just hit me today, about 15 mins ago.

I am gonna do the 3rz swap. Got more power than a 22R, as good on mileage, not so much power as to start breaking things easily, readily available, very close to bolt-in....

Yeah, but what are options for using the toyota duals with engine swap and different trannies? This could be a show stopper for this project.

you can do the 3RZ with a w-56, might have to swap the bell housing...

Hmm... Sounding like the duals may be put on hold for the time being. Unless someone knows if they will be of use to me with a different engine in the truck. Can't stand the 22r engines because of the lack of power in higher speed travel. Any input on the duals and my situation before the end of the night would be great, as I will most likely send an email to rad to cancel the triple shifters for this sole reason.

I found some adapters here:

http://www.marlincrawler.com/transfe...ps/tc-adapters

There are some choices and I like to see the 5vzefe on there as that was a good choice for me as a swap. I will continue the project.

I would think that if you adapt any engine to the Toy transmission you could keep the cases. Great info btw

Yeah, I've had my eye on the 3.4 since day one pretty much. My brother had one in his yota and it wasn't bad. I've driven it and been in it when he has driven it. Would push it right along by itself. This isn't a swap thread, so we won't go there. I'll keep posting up on all the info I get, so hopefully someone who hasn't done this can learn about it as I have.

So far it seems that you HAVE to have a top shift and forward shift transfer (front case must match tranny). The layout is as follows: Tranny-->Crawl Box -->Standard Transfer Case (4.7's would go in this one).

I went with the triple shifters because it will allow for a cleaner install (locates them more toward the stock 4wd location instead of having one further back) and will provide more options for driving around at the same time (2WD gearing options).

It seems that most transfers from a post 83 (as wabfab has stated) should do just fine as long as they gear driven (not chain) and top shift. Not sure on how far up (what years) that applies.

Here is the revised list:

Transfer top shift $150-300, hoping for a better deal
Transfer Case adapter - $320
Speedo Cable Extension $30
Cross Member $210
Universal output flanges $27 each (not necessary, not getting at this time, not added)
4 new shift knobs $25 (they come with shift knobs, not added in total)
Triple shifter from radesigns - $250 shipped
TCase mounts? (quantity?/price? still need to figure out, I believe 4, but have to look)
4.70 gears with 23 spline - $470
HD Springs ~$25

Total: $1605 (doesn't include new transfer mounts and shipping on most items)

You only need 2 transfer case mounts, one for each case.. Around $65 each
