'85 Diesel 4Runner

Found this on ebay last night at work. Thought that some of you would find an '85 diesel 4Runner interesting.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...9861613&rd=1,1
It is For sale in the Portland area, I may see if he will let me take a look at it. 15K it out of my league but it would be nice to see.

It's interesting. But it's not worth that much. Maybe 7 or 8 grand.

Plus taking on someone else's project can be a nightmare if you ever need to find replacement parts.

I saw that when I was browsing last night...the e-lockers are sick, but I can foresee many problems in the future...starting with that front axle.

if it runs well anyone that says its worth less than 10k obviously hasn't attempted an engine swap, none the less a rare/difficult one like that. There's at least 10-12k in parts in that truck, without the hundreds of hours of time to build it. Ask me how i know. $16k may be a tad steep, but you pay for rarity. I just watched a Hemi Cuda convertible go for $2.2 MILLION today at auction, why? Because its cool and rare.

Who cares if it runs well ! Yank that motor out and do something cool, it is the best Toyota truck you can buy IN California !!! Smog ex. and then do whatever you f***ing want. I put a 7MGE in one and the owner has moved three times and registered it, in all three states and has never smogged it.

traditionally , SOME toyota people are cheep .. maybe spoiled is a better word , the aftermarket is flooded with parts + tons of used around , and everyone is undercutting everyone elses price "ohh I can do it cheeper".. nobody wants to spend any money ..

BUT it's comming ..

I think its well worth it .. if you want a "built" unit ..

I have built many , and to duplicate such a truck will cost you at least as much or more + time , blood , and headache.

i don't disagree with the time and headache...however this truck is fairly useless...you won't want to wheel it, because it cost soo much...its not really good for anything else than a hardcore wheeler and some light towing...and it aesthetically is nice, but I've seen trucks that look way cooler for way less...all of the good stuff is on the inside. Its a really cool truck, but most people they can't drop 16k on a wheeler.

Well it wont sell to most people... If I had the $$ I would buy it and wheel it in a heartbeat... Its been one of my dream builds for a LONG time.. .and 16K isn't too bad of a price for that rig either...

Start adding up the price of the parts, its not a bad price.... Its priced to sell to someone who appreciates the build, and will use it... not priced to guarantee a sell.

There are many more people buying NEW jeeps and spending another 10-15K on them and wheeling them... this one is 16K ready to wheel....

Idaho Agreement

Ya this 4runner really is an amazing find. I really can't believe anyone would sell it. I would cost around 22k to have this built and thats if you had one with an excellent body like this has. the paint is pretty boring for a runner of this caliber but thats pretty minor in the overall deal here. my favorite part is the fact that it can run off b100 biodeisel. This rig is hardly just a wheeler, I would daily drive this thing. hell if it had a bettter interior (bedlined), some more goodies, and custom paint this thing would be a show stopper. well anyway there is my 2 cents. props to the man who did the build.

I'd pay 7K for that 'runner. But no more. (It's worth way more but it's the dingin' market).
Sweet runner, no doubt. Good luck to him on his sale.

IIRC its only a 84-89 issue. I dont see how front end strength can hurt...

The simple fact of b100 means he changed a few things out, and made it able to run on it. That alone, IMO, is a testament to the quality of the build. Yes its a lot of money, but its a lot more truck. If the frame/body are rust free then its worth it. None of the running gear, except the front housing, is stock, its all newer than 85, and HD as it gets for toyota OEM parts.

What I thought interesting was the gearing and speed limit of 70, the toyota diesels must be lower reving than other smaller diesels...
