84 22r work with 85 22re intake, sensors etc?

well i traded for an 85 pickup last friday, the engine went out monday. ive been trying to research of i can do this or not and can't seem to find what i need to know. i found an 84 engine thats carbed, but my truck is an 85 efi. can i just take the complete intake assymbly off the 84 and put the efi stuff from my truck onto it? the motor in my truck and the 84 22r i found both have the "micky mouse" ears on the block near the oil pan surface. what about knock sensor, will the 84 block have it?

Yes it will work. Just take everything off of the 84 to get down to a long block (block, head, timing cover, valve cover). Then put everything from your 85 (intake, exhaust, all sensors, etc.)

One thing to note, get a full gasket kit from the dealer and replace every gasket that is exterior to the motor. If your smart, you will R&R the head gasket and the timing chain. Then you know your internals are good.

Also, get new exhaust studs and nuts for the exhaust manifold. Those are always brittle and the nut is locking type fastner. They are a one time use nut. This will prevent a exhaust leak later on...

yes it will all work, the only thing you need to watch out for is the exhaust manifold (round or pear shaped ports) all 84's should be round and 85's are supposed to be pear, but I've seen my fair share of crappy early models leaked into 85's. But just check that, even if it was a early and your going to late or visa versa the intake and all is interchangable.

and when i say round or pear I mean looking at the head itself, you can use the early model manifolds on lates and visa versa but not recomended by me and the center bolts will not line up, although if i remember correctly the late model heads will allow for a stud to be put in the center for early model manifolds.
