This is my buddies rig, he blew the motor years ago. We had a machine shop build us a new one with a stage 2 comp cam. Ran good for about a year but he blew a hose and overheated it. We put a head gasket on it and ran it another year or so. The plastic timing guide broke and ate through the timing cover and cracked the head. So its got a brand new head and a used front cover. (Its just never been the same) No it has a header 2.25 exhaust and does okay but not great. I had a stock 89 truck with 33's that would kick his ass. He just got a trail gear 4" lift with 63" chevy's in the rear and 5.29's

Could the cam go bad from overheating???

Compression is good!

All tuned up!

Got a new fuel pump when the tank was pulled and new injectors recently!

Any help would be great?

have you checked the valve lash to make sure its within the cams spec? You could also be a tooth off. also make sure the timing is set right and the vac. advance is working properly

being a tooth off means the cam is extremely advanced or retarded, so your valves are opening way too early or late before each stroke is properly ended.

if your having trouble timing the motor thats your problem. When your a tooth off they run alright but loose a lot of power. I dont think thats your problem. I would check all the little things first. just check the valves and see if your timing chain sprocket is lined up so you can kill two birds with one stone.
