Personally? I'm really torn on this subject.... I keep reading EVERY swap thread I can, and it seems they're ALL full of their own pro's and cons, ya know?
7MGE might give you plenty of power with less 'things' in there to worry about. But hey, if you're ambitious and just WANT A TURBO, no talkin you out of it?, lol.... Then go for it! But as a DD? I think the 7MGE will SHOCK you in the power dept..... Probably in the mileage dept. too! hahaha... But seriously, I had a Cressida with one(another with a 5MGE, which was DAYUM hard to tell the difference in power therein between the two cressidas)..... And the thing was PLENTYYYYY powerful.
Yeah, this is a tuff one... You have a line on a Supra Motor? Hopefully the whole supra????
I'm torn between LOTS of them, but the big 3 would be 1UZ, 7MGE or 3RZ.... I LOVE the 3.4... But I think, from what I've read, it's the most ambitious of the 4 swaps... 7MGE is supposedly the easiest fit(along with PLENTY of wiring to do, sure enough! lol.).... Honestly? NEVER understood why, since Yota loves the Straight Motors.... why didn't they slap a 7MGE into the earlier Yota's, rather than the 3.0?
Sorry, getting on a 'FUTURE CHRISTMAS LIST TANGENT', hahaha... But I'm REALLY close to deciding which motor and then bringing it home and SLOWLY, over time, restoring it to pristine and possibly some mods(depending on which motor)... I think you're a bit different than me in this... in that you aren't thinking SUPER LONGEVITY like I seem to be, lol... BUT, it IS your DD for the time being, right? ............ I tell ya what, I look forward to WHATEVER you do... But MAN, if you sell this thing half way into gathering parts, getting me all worked up again....I'MA SCREAM 'TEASE' all over the net! hahaha.

i agree with what chef was saying. im really really impressed with my runner and the 7mge. so much more power over stock, for mine its a bolt in swap, probably a little different for you though. my runner gets up and goes now, throttle response is awesome, and people dont expect it because they hear a car! haha when i first got it my first goal was to turbo, i got to reading and i decided against it. main reason is from all the heat and cooling down and spooling up and all just wouldnt really be that great for wheeling. not to mention you have to build it up stronger because of all the boost. i think 7mge, or maybe 2jzge!

if its not for wheeling than heck yea, totally go for 7mgte. that would be way cool. total sleeper too

LOVE my deck... And you should be able to grab it for around that or under.........
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...ers/DEH-7300BT
I got mine for 130$ I believe... Some blowout sale at www.bestbuy.com.
Can't seem to find it easily right now... but the step down one at Crutchfield, the 6400BT unit is 139$ ....... Mine came with wireless remote and nice microphone I mounted in the pillar for the bluetooth phone... LOVE having that, comes in handy ALL THE TIME! Not sure on this one, but you'll find one... I'm sure Kenwood makes a decent comparable version of the 7300BT... but I've heard they've slipped a bit. My pioneers just GO AND GO for years without drama!
