price of a good rebuilt 22r

Well im about waist deep into building my 22r engine. I was just kind of wondering what some of you guys paid in the end for your rebuilds. Im at about 1500 . The only work i am paying to have done is the machine work, and the machine shop is assembleing the bottem end only. I will bolt the head on and do everything else.

Seems high to me, that is with an lc cam(we all know they are proud of their products) a marlin clutch and arp studs, and includes complete valve job and a good balance on the bottem end, hot tanked, painted, gasket kit, rebuild kit...the whole 9 yards. I guess its about right, just list what yours costed and what was put into it if yall dont mind. I just want to try and make myself feel alittle better about putting all this money into an old 22r truck. I kinda feel like i may have been able to come out a little cheaper, but then again i dont know of anyone that i can compare too. Thanks!

hard to say but with the price of the clutch and cam you might be doing well...you could check out Ted at http://www.engnbldr.com/
I know a couple of guys that bought long blocks from him in the $15-1700'ish range..

water pump, oil pump, timing chain etc. No alternator though.

I did call engnbdlr, he didnt have any 83 model blocks. His prices are pretty good but it kill me to ship the block back and forth. All it is, is the machine shop in different areas i think. Some guys can have the block bored decked balanced AND a valve job for 5-600...I got prices from any machine shop within a 3 hour drive of me and what i described above was the cheapest, and luckily it turned out that that machine shop was also my preferance becuase of their good reputaion with race engines and such.

Its no big deal, it had to be done. Plus alot of the money went to the upgrades such as thebig cam head studs and balanceing.

I guess I should consider myself lucky...When I need to do some engine work, Engnbdlr's shop is about an hour from me.

yea you are lucky, engnbldr has great prices and probably does great work. Plus hes just a cool guy that likes to help out alot. You cant beat that in a machinest.

i suppose 1500 is probably about normal for a slightly over stock engine. All in all i think it will be worth it, and hopefully it will last a long long time. I guess i could look on the positive side, at least its not a v8, surely they are alot more pricey to rebuild?
