I didn't replace mine, but of course it came off when the engine was rebuilt. It's pretty easy. Just drain the oil really well. When you've got it off, make sure you clean the surfaces really well. Get all the oil off. Use grey rtv. Follow the instructions in the manual. Old one comes off, new one goes on. Pretty simple.

Depends what truck you have and if you have a lift. For the 22RE trucks in the 84-89 trucks with IFS, you have to drop the front diff to get it on/off. If you have a 4" bracket lift up front it's easier. You need to move fast when putting it back on too - use Toyota FIPG, and it dries QUICK....do some dry runs first so you have the technique down. And torque the bolts in a star pattern so it mates evenly.

Ah, didn't realize you had a 2x4. With the 4x4s it just comes right off.
