My "new" 1983 pickup
Look at what I just bought: 1983 Toyota pickup 4WD SR5 LWB
It needs alot of work. The 22R doesn't run, I'll be selling that. The 20R is supposed to run, I'll be selling that also. It's a SR5, and the dash hasn't been "hacked", it's never been in an accident. The frame and cab has rust, but that is expected. The bed, well, there is no bed.
I bought it from the original owner. I have the owners manual, owners guide, original invoice and new vehicle order.
Original price of truck: $10,239.25
Oh, I paid $600 for the truck.

Nice score! That's pretty much the truck I wish I'd bought. I'm a fan of the LWB pickup (std.cab) I've decided though, I like mine for that alone if nothin' else. (green lettering denoting envy)

I've never been a fan of LWB trucks. I wanted a SWB truck, but up here it's getting hard to find these trucks at all. I will be building a SWB truck out of it. Not sure on how I'm going to accomplish that yet.

I will start a "tear-down" thread, as I really need to take it down to the frame and see what I need. Don't expect it to get done this year
I'm not doing a 100% restore, but I'd like to keep much of it as it is. It will have a 22RE.

I was considering using a 4Runner frame, since there's 2 in the local JY. Just have to move some mounts around, but it's the same frame as a pickup. I'd rather have a 109" like yours if I was to do it now. I like the length for high speed stability, ass end comes around slower giving you more time to correct. And for straight hillclimbing, longer is better. I can JUST squeeze through most trails, but 3" less might be easier without giving up too much length.

I was thinking on removing the 6" from the middle section on this frame, but the frame might be too far gone. The PO already had some welding done to it. I have access to a frame machine, so getting it square is not a problem.
But i'm getting ahead of myself, I need to take this thing apart first.

I checked out your build thread, nice job.
When I do my tear down, I'll bag/label everything, and take pictures also.
Right now I do not imagine that the frame is salvagable on my truck. The cab floor is in pretty rough shape also.

I was thinking about getting one of these: http://www.toyotafiberglass.com/steel%20box%20side.jpg and having it welded on the side of a newer bed, say 1990 or so. I'm also looking at the other metal repair parts. No floor panels yet?
How hard is it to produce the floor panels? You have my order should you make some.

yep .. it is .
absolutly a lot of work doing those bed sides on a newer box , it's a TON of work doing them on the stock box .. wow .. If you can do that , then you'll have NO problem building floors .
We were going to do the floors ... problem is cost , not really feezable .. most guys whom get to that part of the repair will just build something them selves .
