My 1982 Toyota Pickup

Got it last year at the beginning of summer, and she has been good to me. So far i have had to replace the hubs, so i got Warn. Put in new seats and 4-point harnesses, just got rock sliders today, and an internal rear hoop so i can properly mount my harnesses. I am planning on gearing to 5.29 as soon as i have the money. I also have a 2050watt amp, running 2 12" subs that sit behind the seats. Still needs a bit of work and stuff like that. But for a DD she works great for me.

Just got the sliders today, got a real good deal on them too! I will post more pictures as i keep building her up.

My 81 pickup

I'm new to this forum, so here is my first post. Don't have any good pics yet. I got this 81' recently from a friend (with no trans) for $500. It has 112K on the odometer and the interior is incredibly clean. It was all original, and on 4 flat tires when I towed it home.

So far the list of mods is short. I put on some 33" BFGs on 2.75" BS rims I had laying around from one of my cruisers. Since it came with no trans, I picked up a rebuilt 5spd; too bad I'll never need that 5th gear. I also built some sliders for it and bobbed the bed 16" and the frame 5". Also put an Aussie in the back and mounted storage and spare tire stuff in the back. And don't forget the important high performance cup holder. It took the standard work to get it running and reliable after not being registered for quite a few years.

I've only done two trail runs in it and it suprised me at how capable it is. (I highly recommend the Bullfrog Trail in Johnson Vly., fun stuff). I really enjoy the lack of weight and the angle stability that my cruisers lack. Plus the gas gauge moves real slow.

edit: guess I need to figure out how to put real pics up.

Yeah, the truck is super low in the front. I call it the stinkbug effect, ass high, front low. I'm cool on the tube bumpers for now. The truck doesn't have any dents or rust besides a few dings from the bed being used for work. Original paint is still nice enough to polish. My priorities for it are:
  1. Power steering and crossover (have everything but the arms so far)
  2. around 3" of lift. I'm trying to keep it as low as possible to fit 37"s. I will soon tub the front firewall. A rear bumper will go on once I figure out what length springs I'm using. The frame protrudes a small amount from the rear body. I left room when I did the bob to account for using 63" springs, which I have laying around.
  3. Doubler and low gears for the t-case. I want to do both at the same time so I can go 23spline. New crossmember with it. I am going to do this at the same time as the lift so I only have to do my driveshafts once.
  4. Roll bar - leaning towards a partial exo, with some of the tubes running under the panels. I don't like the look of exos on such cool vehicles.
  5. New seats, maybe cab modification so I can actually fit inside the truck (I'm only 5' 11'' and man is it cramped).
  6. Regeared difs. Currently has 3.90s. booh!
  7. Paint it something tacky. My painter friend said buy the paint and he'll give it a quickie for $30.
So beware of plenty of questions.

What did you do with the bed? That thing looks like it's in perfect shape.
