Exclamation headlight and driveshaft questions

Ok so I have a bone stock 1982 and i need to get new tires, I want to get some mud terrains so i was thinking either BFGs or Toyos not sure yet, but i want to get 33x9.50x15 tires and i need to know if they will fit on my truck without a lift. I'm going to get a 4 inch suspension lift but i need the tires first and i don't want to buy small tires then have to go back and get bigger ones within 6 months of each other. I wont be wheelin till I get the lift so i just need to know if i will be able to clear them and drive them without rubbing the tires or anything. ok number 2 ha, I once i get the lift do I need to get an extended driveshaft or will i be ok using the stock one? last but not least my right headlight went out. the left one works and the fuses are good, connections are good, the weird thing is the brights work on both headlights the right one just doesn't work when the regular lights are on. is there anything that i can do to fix this or should i just bring it in to the shop and have them look at it? ok thats it for now, i'll be on everday to see if anyone has any answers for me.

Thanks

Not sure on the tires, but you should check the headlight fluid to see if it's low.

I just bought some 33x10.50 15 km2 for one of my 4runners , and they rub when I turn into my driveway.

this is even after I cranked the torsion bars up front and added 2 xtra leafs to each of the leaf packs in the rear.

The reason i ask about the tires is because there was post on here where a guy had pictures of his stock 82 with 33's then 32's then 35's and the 33's looked ok but the 35's would have rubbed no doubt.

yea, your headlights need fluid, and if the fluid gets too low, the light will burn out

so whats ur opinion on the headlight? should i just take it in and have someone look at it? i'm kinda stumped. It might be a short in the wire but like i said i'm not sure, all the lights work lows, brights, turn signals everything but when i have the regular lights are on the right one stays off.

dont know first hand on the tires... they might though.. as for the headlights.. sounds like the low beam fillaments burned out.. go to the parts store and get a new headlamp.. i think id do them both at once tho, no need having one brighter then the other.. maybe even upgrade to

well thats what i would assume, i mean you can check you plug on the lamp it self and make sure the wires are all contacting correctly

33's shouldn't rub on first gen (79-83) trucks. An '88 four runner is a completely different deal.

Headlights go out...not cool? They're seriously cheap. If you've got an '82 and you're worried about headlights going out you're in serious trouble...

One of the reasons you're getting smart a** replies is because this is stuff that gets asked a million times, and if you search you'll find the answers.

I agree with the headlight idea, get new bulbs. You should be able to get both for under $20 so no biggie right?

wait that doesn't make any sense. You said all the lights work and then you said that the right one doesn't. Are you saying that both headlights light up when the highbeams are on but only the left one lights up when the brights are off? This is the most common scenario.

If that is the case then you just need another lamp for the right side. I am pretty sure yours are sealed beam lamps so they are about 10 bux new for a whole unit with housing and stuff. It is a two filament bulb so the one filament is most likely just burnt out. You can eliminate the wiring out of the equation by swapping them left to right just to make sure.

1.your headlight has 2 filaments inside the bulb, one for low beam and one for the high beams. sounds like the low beam filament has burned out. get a new bulb for that.
2. you should not need a new driveshaft with 4 inches of lift.
3. BFG mud terrains do not come in 33x9.5, they are available as a 33x10.5. I have these on my first gen truck now, but i have a 2 inch lift and they clear just fine. you may experience some slight rubbing before you get the lift, but nothing that would keep you from being able to drive normally, just no serious wheeling. you can get the BFG AT in a 33x9.5.

ok good ha i got a new head light and it works great so that problems solved, and i found some 4 inch lift leaf springs for 150 for the front ones, so if i got those all i would need is new shocks and blocks and ubolts for the rear right? or should i get new leafs for the rear too? and do i need new brake lines too or would i be ok using the stock ones?
