Drum to disc swap

Hello, newb here...

Anyways, I have a 1973 Hilux....soon I'll be swapping in a 5.0L out of a 95 Mustang GT....Also will be using the AODE transmission and 8.8" rear end...

So this thing will need some better stopping power than the stock drum brakes up front...

Does anyone have a list of parts or what I should use to put disc brakes on the front of my truck? I'm guessing disc brakes from a 79 or newer Toy would work?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

The earlier trucks (79-83) had solid rotors. You might be better off putting vented rotors on the front and discs on the rear also.

You might want to check out Slacker's build thread on his 2WD:

For the rear I'm just going to keep the disc brakes on the Mustang axle.. But only the front I should put some fancy rotors...but what exactly would I need to convert from drum?

sorry, im stealing a question in here...

my brakes suck. i think the front ones squeak and i need new ones

are the drums stronger? will they warp just as easily as the discs???

ive seen my buddy take the discs out and put new ones on in his lincoln towncar, is it that easy on the runners too?
