81 toyota bed

i have a 81 toyota that needs a bed i cant find one no where all i can find is short beds........how much cuttin and where would i have to cut it at to make it fit.........would i have to cut front and back of it to make it fit or what........i kno the long bed is about 9-10 inches longer then the short but was hopin the the wheel bas was the same so i could just cut back and cut end of frame off that would be great.........HELP

take a long bed and bassicly "bob" it to the mesurements a short bed calls for.

i have a long bed now......i was just making sure that i could just bob tail the back half and not the front........the back would be ok but if i got to do both i just wooden bed it i guess

ohh. i see what you're asking. if i beleive, i'll let the experts chime in though, the bed mounts are centered under the bed. so you would have to chop some off the front and back to make it fit.

i'll research now and doulbe check

The extra lenght that separates a long bed from a short bet is at the front, towards the cab. The distance from the wheela ti the back is the same. At least, thats what it is for my 2nd gen truck, but im sure it applies to 1st gens aswell.

just make a flat bed..

there are a few differances other then the front of the bed ..
you are correct , in the 9" differance , but the back of the bed mounts are also in differant locations and at differant lengths , it just not a simple "cut the front off and it will fit"
