20r ?'s

basic ?, for those running 20r's or early series 22r's (up to 83) which have not been rebuilt (to your knowledge). What oil, brand/viscocity are you running and why? IE:where are you located and how what do you use your truck for dd, wheeler, or daily wheeler. Just picked up a '80 longbed and am gonna start with the basics real soon.

got an 84 22r i'm running Q full synthetic. It's my dd

Also got an 80 20r i'm running a synthetic blend (cant remember brand)

Oh and just so you know 22r's were essentially the same from their intro until 84, it was 85 when the deck height changed.

But uh.. what difference would the year make as far as oil goes?

Back when I my 79 was my driver/wheeler, I ran 20w50 Walmart oil in mine, any other viscosity, she'd smoke like a sob. The dash said 98,xxx dunno if that was 198K or 98K...but it was not rebuilt to my knowledge

Would not/does not make any differnece, just trying to narrow it down to get as specific info as possible.

Thats what i was thinking as my dash says 93K, but as the PO did no know if the motor had ever been rebuilt, it probably more like 193 or 293 who knows maybe even 393?.

I also have no intentions of rebuilding the motor until it explodes on me, then i will do a 22/20r combo

my 82 with 346,000 miles, never rebuilt. I run Wal-Mart 10w-40. I ran 20w-50 but it made it really hard to start in the winter months, and 10w-30 leaks like a sieve
