1980 emissions and vacuum stuff
Hey all, just registered and am happy to have found this forum. Just bought a 1980 4x4 pickup with the 20r. Been reading alot about switching to the weber carb and emissions and vacuum line stuff. Just curious if any of you noticed a difference in MPG after bypassing all this stuff. I don't have emissions where I am but want to retain MPG if possible. I have a rebuilt carb on this so the weber is out of the question at this point. Anyone have a diagram or pictures of the best way to get rid of the uneeded emissions and vacuum lines without sacrificing mpg if that be the case? I'm getting about 21 MPG now how does this compare to y'all?? Thanks in advance, John

21mpg is better than I got on my 77. I averaged around 15 and at best got 20. I had disabled most of the emissions on it.
I get around 22mpg on my 1982, 27 the best I have ever got. It has a 22r with the emissions intact.
I think the reason the 77 got so much worse mileage is it was an automatic, but I can't tell you removing the emissions will boost it.
