Actually if you're talking about the line I think you are, when one of the diaphragms in the carb gets worn out, it kind of punctures one of the vacuum one hoses and it drips a small amount of fuel into the block.. Usually causes a miss on cylinder 1.. Check your plugs on cylinder 1 and 3 and compare the carbon build up.. If I'm right, your plug on cylinder one will be a lot worse than 3.. If that's the case you may be in for a carb rebuild.

That's when you weigh your options. 40 bucks for a rebuild kit plus the time to rebuild or 200-300 for a easier Carb.

well the pick n pull junkyard just got a 1980 2wd pickup in yesterday I went down there and started to take the fuel cut solenoid out then I looked at the price list and just pulled the whole carb for 33 bucks the motor looked in relly good shape im gonna take a look at some of these vacuum things and idle cut solenoid and test it .the idle cut itself is $ 120 when I could actually find one .so well see shoot it was only 33$ for the whole carb..ok so now where the choke is on the carb I just picked up there is resistance on the linkage that closes and opens the valve.now on the one on the truck I think my choke is broken it seems like there is no spring left at all in there you can just open and close it with no effort and it just flops around ..I think my choke is bad and the valve is just opening and closeing when driving giving it intemitten problems dieing and sputtering because the choke is floppin around ..does this sound like a good thought.

well hell I don't think its the fuel cut solenoid I replaced it with wnother one with a better plunger and grounded it to the battery and it has 12v goin to it when ingnition is on.replaced the ficb didn't do it . it seems to do ok until it gets warmed up then will stall .I read on a site some guy thought it might be his egr same issues.possiable?i just wanna do as much as I can to try and solve this .hey by the way I thought it was strange that the white wire was ground and the black wire was hot on the idle cut solenoid the plug has a {hot black and yellow wire goin to it} and a black neutral apparently
