54mm socket question
I guess you could say im preparing myself for cv axle replacement. I need a 54mm socket to remove the nut. I realize thats a very big nut my question do i need the leverage of a 3/4 inch drive ratchet or is 1/2 inch drive 54mm socket good enough. I havent had money to purchase air tools so I am using good ole hand tools still. Thanks guys
P.S. whats the tourque specs supposed to be on that spindle nut?

A 1/2" drive will be just fine.

If you're talking about the two large hub nuts with the lock washer betwixt them, you could use a 1/4 inch drive if you want. Those nuts aren't torqued very much. If you torque them too much you'll get a premature failure of the wheel bearings. If you can't find a 54mm socket, I think a 2 and 1/4 inch socket will work too. I've got one if you'll pay shipping you could borrow it and send it back.

yea thats the one. Your right they do hold the wheel bearings in I shouldnt tighten them that much. Not sure what i was thinking lol. I actually will invest in one because with my wheeling i have been doing latley i will break one sooner or later and once i find out how easy it is to replace i will probly be a little more heavy on the throttle and break more than once. Thanks tho.

The socket is large but the torque is not very high:
