AZ - Table Mesa 10/18 - Vermejo's visit

Well we had an eventful day out at Table Mesa over the weekend. Vermejo had some business in PHX so he joined us on Saturday to hit the trails up at Table Mesa.

Before he showed up we figured a quick warm up run through Raw Deal was in order. Nothing is ever easy...after some winching and careful extraction we got off the trail to meet Jake at the air down.

Then we headed over to Dirty Sanchez to see who wanted to wanted to push their luck. Well, after I took the high line up the second fall and skirted through sideways it was obvious I was on my own the rest of the way since there is no backing up or turning around at this trail. I thought I had most everyone convinced to follow me...if only I could have made it look easier I may have had a taker or two! The rest of the trail was fairly uneventful, although that big fall seemed much steeper the second time.

Then it was off to LT...someone else can fill in the rest of the story!

I didn't get a chance to take many photos but here's some. Somehow Jon eluded my camera today...

Saturday’s potential for trail Zen was short lived as I broke only a few bumps into Lower Terminator. The Z Turn proved too much for my axle; it snapped off in the diff so clean it looked beautiful. We were able to extract my truck from the hole with the use of all recovery means available. My 3Runner (name complements of hecklers) made an ugly escape out of Lower Terminator and was later laid to rest at Jon’s house. That night after a few pizzas and more beers the truck was driveable. Lesson learned: don’t leave home w/o C V provisions.

These guys were more than generous in offering assistance on Saturday’s run and rehab. Meghan and I extend our most sincere gratitude. We had a great time

Lots of pics in no real order.

Cool pics Jake & Meghan! I gotta know how they finally get that spline shaft out of your diff, please update then. How did the temp "diff cover" work out? Any vibes from the cut shaft in the wheel?

Once again, thanks for the pizza & brews. Glad you made it home safe.

Good times, for sure.

Steve did you figure out the buggy issue?

Nice pics guys. Looks like a good time (minus Jake's breakage of course).

I envy you Jake. I have been wanting to get down there for a while but haven't made it yet.

Good to see Steve's 4Runner on the trail again...something wrong with the buggy?

No, I didnt get a chance to look at CD. I did walk Anaconda and that trail looked good.

The buggy had engine timing issues. Hopefully Steve was able to get that figured out.

Some call it luck...

I sure was sad to part with your aftermarket cover. It served near 400 miles before I needed to wrap a burrito. The hacked outer will be part of my “3Runner CV Rescue Kit” along of course with plastic wrap /rubber band seal and foil/zip tie armor-protection.

Awesome. Guess I need to add a couple things to my trail tools & parts kit. Glad it worked out.
