It's basically a big horseshoe-shaped piece of plastic that sits over the top of the instrument cluster. Not all Yota's have one though. Many have a one-piece dash.

There's no short in the new wiring; it's solid. That was proven when I reconnected the OEM lights via the new wiring harness. So I must be correct about my assumption that the new lights are drawing...
