I had a beast of a time getting info on the charging sys for my 1983 yota... but with the help of the guys on here I was abale to resolve it fairly painlessly... I installed a Delco 12S alternator... here's why... it eliminated the external voltage regulator, it's affordable... I think mine was like $65 dollars new, it's 65amp, and the wiring is simple (now that I know)... just hook the main post to the battery, connect #2 wire to the main post with a short jumper wire, connect #1 from the alternator to the Green Wire on your charge relay... this eliminates the charge relay and while keeping the charge lights in the original yota circuit... this is the same for all yota trucks from 79 to 83... if you need help contact me and I can walk you through it! Cheers! david
