Marlin Crawler Install + x-tra(56K BEWARE)
Today I was able to get the rear bumper powder coated and some other stuff too. My fater in law knows a guy so not only was the price great, he also took the time to teach me the process of powder coating.
Now why you really clicked on this
PICTURES
all mocked up for the oven

getting the brackets ready

hitting the bumper with some semi gloss black

fresh from the oven

take a last look at the old bumper

installing bumper, this thing is a tight fit! there is not alot of room around this thing anywhere. Marlin Crawler really did a good job with the fit.

As long as I was there I decided to de-chrome the runner. So long 80's bull bar and tow hooks.

All the chrome blasted off, looking good.

Front tow hooks and d-rings getting preped for color. What color..........

BRIGHT RED

Fresh from the oven all wet looking

Bull bar all blacked out

Now you are allowed to see the rear bumper.

But don't forget the front tow hooks

Now the front is all back together too.

Don't worrie I have a front skid plate but it was taken off for an oil change, today was a very busy day for the little Runner.
Still need to finish blacking out the trailer hitch, but you know what those already look like.

Thanks for the additional pics. Just my opinion, but if you're not going back to a stock bumper, I'd cut off those metal brackets that used to hang the black plastic trim. Might give it a cleaner look.

thats a great looking bumper, i ordered mine last february, i cancelled that order at the end of august when they said they still couldnt gove me an eta... I ended up going with a bigrocks rear, not as clean but they got it to me in 3 weeks, not 7+months... I almost regret it

Good powder coating job.....did that guy pretreat the metal before he shot it? Very critical step in powder coating...I see he has a homemade oven? One of these days I'm gonna fab me up one....just need to get the money to do so. Also something that might benefit him is a ventilation fan and a filter to suck the powder back onto the filter because it helps on the mess and pulls the powder away from spots where ya don't want it falling...like if you want to do fades and such. I hate blasting off chrome...if ya don't get it all off then the cadmium coating of chrome plating bleeds through the coating and it looks like crap all bubbled up! Nice work though...I got that exact same gun from Eastwood....$800! I modified my fan tip a few days ago and it shoots alot better now...

That bumper looks great! I have been thinking about getting that bumper. Trying to decide if the Marlin or getting 4x4Labs custom bumper. Do you have any other pics of the truck overall? Just wanting to get a better look of it overall.
Thanks! Again, truck looks great w/ that bumper.

Oh yeah we pre treated and even sand blasted the bumper before hand, chrome peice was taken down and no bubbles anywhere. This guy powdercoats for a couple of big tool outfits, industrial only (honda, ford, and a few others that only see assembly lines) he does a great job, couldn't have learned from a better person IMHO

so with that bumper, are you still able to use a trailer hitch or do you not need one with that particular bumper? I see where there is a place to put a drop bar in there but was wondering if you could still use the trailer hitch too.
