1st gen sr5 wheel vs. 2nd gen sr5 wheel ???

I bought a set of sr5 wheels from a second gen 4runner. I've got lug nuts from a 1st gen. The wheels look just like the ones I got on another 4runner which came from a 1st gen, but the lugs don't fit, they're too big for the holes. What's the deal? I've never read or seen anything about this. Did they change the size of the holes on a certain year?

The lugs don't fit through the holes in the rims. I think the rims are 2nd gen, they look just like some I got from a 1st gen. but the holes are smaller. The first gen lugs will not work on them.

your lugs should require a 21mm socket to remove & install and the wheels from a 1st gen should swap over without issue. stop in and see your friendly neighbourhood stealer with the offending lug nuts and see what they have to say.

When I had a '91 with aluminum I carried a set of lug nuts from an '85 I used to own because my spare had a steel rim. They fit fine.
If both rims are steel, the lug nuts are the same. You DO know that lug nuts for aluminum rims may be quite different?
Your posts aren't too clear -
IF you are saying the extra lug nuts don't fit - I suggest they are most likely not what you think they are. IF you are saying the holes in the WHEEL are different - I suggest the wheel may not be what you think it is.
Lug nuts are a dollar a piece, just get some new ones...
