Quick Q. Remote Starter - Keyless entry w Factory Alarm

OK so i just got a remote starter that will be put in on wednesday. I have a 99 4Runner with the keyless entry and the factory alarm. Instead of paying these guys an extra like $50 to add the lock/unlock feature on the starter remote, can i just follow the instructions for programming the factory remotes? I have searched on here and ppl do it with ones they buy off ebay, but just want to confrim that this will also work with this remote starter setup, and it will arm the alarm and such. Thanks for any help.

are you trying to put a remote starter add-on or a stand-alone unit?

I would say that I would pay and have the keyless put on with the remote start, so that you only have one remote on your keyring. I would also check to see if your factory remote works with the vehicle running, because there are some that do not work with the vehicle on. The factory alarm arms and disarms with lock and unlock so the factory remote is not needed.

ya you nailed it on the head on this one jerm..im going to get them to add it as i cannot use my factory keyless to open it up when it is running. I have to go back since they realized half way through install that they did not have the module thing, so i had to sacrifice my other key until they get one in, so when they are changin that up ill ask them to add the keyless. hopefully on their dime since two mistakes on their part have wasted enough of my time already.

okay i see exactly what you did, and its a pretty odd way of gettin it installed.

anyways, make sure you get the bypass 555X that doesnt required spare key. the one you got is 555U required a spare key to be put in and has a "ring".

Or you can use a 555F too, works wonders!
