catalytic converter
I just brought my T-100 back up to the States after being down in Guatemala for a couple of years and I need to put a new catalytic converter in, as I had my old one taken off and never replaced. I found a couple of cheap high flow options on e-bay, but I have very little knowledge of exhaust systems, so I need some advice. I measured the exhaust size after the muffler to be 2 1/4'' (I think), but I'm the second owner and don't know if it's all stock. Can I just buy a 2 1/4 '' cat a weld it on or might it be a different size tube around the cat (V6)? What brands are good? Should I just replace the whole system, pipes and all while I'm doing it? It is getting some holes, but might last another couple of years and would like to do it as cheaply as possible. Thanks a lot for any input that y'all have.
BTW, don't remove your cat, it does make the truck idle like crap, makes the check engine light come on, and I might even give my truck less high end horsepower.

Pick up a Car Sound high-flow cat off ebay. $57 shipped or so should do the trick. The pipe diameter should be 2.25" as mentioned. You can just weld it in place, or weld some flanges on so you can take it on and off, but then you need gaskets. Your call.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info on the cat, I'll order that tonight. How long should a pipe last that has some pin sized rust holes? Should I just replace the whole thing while I'm down there? Thanks.

Knowing that I'm not longer a bastard polluter: Priceless
Thanks for the help, it runs much better now too.
